U.S. Senate Finance Committee to Reauthorize SCHIP Legislation
June 26, 2007
The U.S. Senate Finance Committee is drafting legislation to reauthorize the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). SCHIP is a program jointly administered by the federal government and the states that provides health care coverage for six million children nationally in poor and low-income families. This vital program provides health care to millions of children and allows coverage for children in families earning up to 200% of the federal poverty level.
Washington State has set a goal to provide health insurance to every child by 2010. A strong and well-funded SCHIP program will assist the state to reach this goal. Click here to read more and to take action.
